Role: Graphic Designer & Copywriter
Software: InDesign & Photoshop
Design goals: The goal of Umami was to create a modern food and drink publication that feels refined and visually driven. I chose a minimalist editorial style that prioritizes strong typography, generous white space, and a clear visual hierarchy, allowing the photography to become the focal point of each spread. To support this, I edited all images in Photoshop to create visuals that complement the magazine's clean aesthetic. Rather than relying on excessive graphic elements, I used carefully curated photography and intentional pops of colour to bring energy and personality to the layouts while maintaining the overall look. Throughout the publication, I focused on balancing readability with visual interest, creating a consistent editorial system that guides readers seamlessly through the content. The final result is a contemporary magazine that celebrates food culture through thoughtful design and striking imagery.

Thanks for being here.
